Elkhorn City Loses a Giant

Elkhorn City has lost an irreplaceable friend.  Bill Ramey, lifetime area resident and founding member of the Elkhorn City Area Heritage Council, passed away Tuesday, October 22. He was 83 years old.

Bill was a part of nearly everything that has happened in this town for over 50 years.  The former Elkhorn City Postmaster (and one-half of the Retired Postmasters Association), he was a vital cog in every project the Heritage Council carried out, from cataloging and getting the Elkhorn City Cemetary on the National Register, to manning the table at the Bushwhacking on the Russell Fork, to setting up tents at the Russell Fork Rendezvous.

Bill will certainly be sorely missed by the Heritage Council, his family, and by anyone who calls, or called, Elkhorn City home.  Godspeed!
