  • The Pine Mountain Trail Conference and ECAHC invites everyone out to hike the Elkhorn City and Breaks loop of the state park on Saturday, February 20. The group will gather at the trailhead shelter on Carson Island in Elkhorn City at 9:30 a.m.

  • The answer is in: Duh! Winter settled in full force the week before Christmas leaving over 10 inches of snow over town. The wet, heavy snow downed trees and power lines, leaving thousands in the region without electricity for days.  Snow and below freezing temperatures returned for the New Year and haven't let up in the first week of the year.   • The Mary Ramey Potter Chapter #2678 of the United Daughters of the Confederacy received their charter in a ceremony on September 26.  The chapter was chartered with 15 confirmed members and 5 pending.
    Mary Ramey Potter was the daughter of William Ramey, founder of Elkhorn City, and wife of Richard Potter. Five of her sons fought for the Confederacy and survived the Civil War.
